Marc Cherney is a New York Institute of Finance faculty member who specializes in Accounting for Financial Instruments and Derivatives. Marc is currently the Director of the New York Institute of Finance in Chicago. Marc was previously an independent financial consultant responsible for providing financial accounting and reporting guidance to publicly held companies in a variety of industries. Marc also conducted accounting & financial seminars in the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Trinidad & Tobago. His areas of expertise include financial accounting, managerial accounting, insurance accounting, financial analysis, and finance for nonfinancial professionals.
Prior to establishing his independent consultancy, Marc held positions in corporate accounting, internal audit, and organizational development at CNA Financial Corporation in Chicago. While at CNA, Marc worked with senior management to develop financial acumen training for nonfinancial executives. He also developed, administered, and facilitated financial training programs for the Corporate Finance department.
Marc is a registered Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Illinois. He holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science Degree in Accounting from Roosevelt University in Chicago. Marc is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and the Chicagoland Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development (CCASTD).
