About the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board)

The mission of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. (CFP Board) is to help people benefit from competent, professional and ethical financial planning. To further this mission, CFP Board works to create and enforce uniform standards of competence, practice and ethics of financial planners through rigorous, validated and professionally administered education, examination, experience and ethics requirements.

CFP® certificants are required to complete 30 hours of CE each reporting period: -2 hours from a CFP Board-approved program on CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility (Code of Ethics) and/or Financial Planning Practice Standards (Practice Standards). -28 hours from one or more of the accepted subject topics.
